September top tips - Rob The Gardener

  • Keep deadheading roses and dahlias to give them one last burst of colour.

  • Time to get out and harvest your fruit and veg, especially good time for Apples, Raspberries, Plums and Quinces. Tomatoes should get nice and plump as they make the most of the sun and rain now.

  • Plant out bulbs like Daffodils, Bluebells, Crocuses and Tulips in preparation for a colourful Spring.

  • Dig up, divide and replant your Iris’s, Viola’s, Lily-of-the-valley. It does them a lot of good and means you get extra by spreading them around the garden a bit.

  • Slow down on the water for the indoor plants as it cools and gets darker.

  • Get the rake out. Leaves are coming.
